Info

The West Indies World Cricket Cup Winners issue celebrated the West Indies' victory at the first Cricket World Cup, won against Australia at Lord's in London on June 21, 1975, behind a century from captain Clive Lloyd. In July 1975 the Council of Ministers of the Caribbean Community (Caricom), the regional bloc of Caribbean states, agreed to mark the win with a stamp issue across the region, and the Guyanese painter Cletus Henriques designed the two stamps it used. The lower value shows a map of the Caribbean with stumps and crossed bats, with the issuing countries picked out in red; the higher value shows the Prudential Cup trophy. Territories released the pair through 1976 on their own dates and in their own denominations, with Guyana issuing its stamps on August 3, 1976. St. Christopher-Nevis-Anguilla, St. Lucia, and Trinidad and Tobago also issued the two stamps together as a miniature sheet within a decorative border.123
